Well....yesterday I met bright and early with Melissa, our realtor, and the Home Inspectors at our new "Home-to-Be". The house was truly under the microscope for about three hours.
Everything went really well. The inspectors told me that the house has been taken wonderful care of and the termite inspector told me that there were no signs of termites or any other types of bugs and also no previous signs of any. Thank goodness!
The seller's realtor, Earl, also showed up. We all had quite a "get together"!
I got to talk with Earl for quite a while and learned a few things about the house.
The people who are selling the house to us, had just spent "bigtime" money on a new kitchen remodel and a new high efficiency heat and air system, with state-of-the-art air filtration systems and humidifier. There are actually two systems, one for the upstairs and one for the downstairs. Very, very impressive! The realtor and the home inspector stated that the sellers were definately "thinking of the future", when they decided on "this system".
According to Earl,....the heat and air system was what the husband had always dreamed of having and the brand new kitchen remodel was what the wife had always wanted.
And then.....the husband gets the news that he is being transferred to another state.
Unfortunately for the wife....the home was put up "For Sale", when the kitchen construction was just finishing up. She never even got to enjoy it. It's really beautiful! It has a Jennaire dual fuel, double oven stove. (It just so happens that the termite inspector, is also a caterer, and he was just overwhelmed by the stove!) I wondered, at first, why he was going on and on about it, so I asked him if he liked to cook and that's when he told me that he was also a caterer.
The kitchen is so pretty. It also has Quartz countertops and an undermount granite sink, with a special faucet that has filtered water from it and also a huge tall faucet, that I've never seen anything like before.
Earl told me that the wife had wanted this special faucet and had to talk her husband into it. Earl said that she finally got her way, after many discussions about "a faucet". I asked Earl, why would she have to talk her husband into a "faucet" and he told me, because faucets like this one are so expensive. I knew that it looked very impressive, but I had know clue about "faucets"!
The kitchen cabinets are gorgeous! They are called "glazed cabinets" and are finished in an antique-ish white color, all with beautiful copper knobs and handles. All the hinges are hidden....so you don't see them. There's a cabinet with a "Lazy Susan" in it and a big cabinet that has a "pull out" pantry. It's just amazing! All the drawers open and close so smoothly, that they feel like they are running on butter. The kitchen also has lighting above and below the cabinets. Now that's something that I've always wanted!
The wife definately had great taste in remodeling the kitchen and she must've chosen the right people to do it. They did a fantastic job! Earl told me that the sellers had never planned on ever leaving, but he then assured the wife that the new kitchen would be a fantastic asset in selling the home. (I was sold on the house when I first walked in the door, before I ever even saw the new kitchen.)
So anyway....everything at the new house checked out in excellent condition. And again.....we are so excited!
Until we meet again.....Greetings and Salutations from Planet Norwood (for now)
We will be closing, on the house, Monday February 5th. I have to meet with the inspectors on Wednesday, January 10th, for a three hour tour! (A three hour tour)
